Tina, the boss, travel ninja and explorer at large likes to search out cool places to stay and visit. We finally rented a car and planned a trip to the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose.
On the first day driving arriving she decided we'd stay just outside the big city in the small town of Grecia, which is very close to San Jose, and close to some very cool scenery and the Poas volcano, which we spent the next day visiting.
She also found a cool little hotel called Mango Valley Hotel. It was bizarre trying to find it since we arrived after sunset. The roads go every which way, and mostly uphill. The town climbs the side of the mountain.
The couple who run the hotel were super friendly, super gracious and excellent hosts.
I can see now why they won the Trip Advisor's Travellers Choice Award four years running.
This couple moved here from Spain. They are full of great stories, great conversation, humor and insights. If you happen to be in the area, and you need a place to stay that is amazing and well priced, check out Mango Valley Hotel in Grecia.
